FFF 10

It's the tenth week of Fitness for Friday and I'm finally on board. Woo hoo!  Been out of blog land for a bit visiting my daughter while Eric is traveling.  Internet has been spotty, to say the least, so it's been impossible to get on more than a minute or two at a time.  At a Starbucks stealing wifi at the moment so will try to do some fast writing and reading before you all forget me!

The stats:

Eric - Still a Rock Star.  He's held his 14 pound loss even with the corporate dinners and hotel food. Looking mighty fine, that man o' mine.

Amy - Lost 4 pounds at my daughters house! Woo hoo. More importantly, I've been six days without any pain killers or other drugs. Feeling like I might be getting away from them for good. :)

The food part: I tried a version of Lindy's 18/6 plan which I discovered really works for me.  I start my day with a Cup o' Joe.  Then, whatever time I have my first meal, the clock ticks for six hours during which I can munch on healthy meals, snacks, drinks, whatever.  Once that six hours is up, I'm off food for another 18.  It sounded terrible but actually was quite easy - fit my lifestyle.  We'll see if it works when I'm back in the grind of the J-O-B.

The physical part: I am wearing my Fitbit and the knee is good enough that I hit 5000 steps two of five days.  Not bad considering I've been as low as 400-500 a day while recovering.  It's been two months. I get a little better each day.

The mental/emotional part: It's hard not having Eric home and I miss him all the time but I've been surrounded by friends and family since he left. The lesson here? I'm not good being alone.  I need interaction. I'm a people person!!

Congrats to everyone who has been on the bandwagon all along.  It's time for the rest of us to catch up!

Amy

  1. Amy, it sounds like you are both doing fantastic. :) And 5000 steps in two days after 500 is wonderful. :) I am sorry that Erik has to be away so much. I find it hard when the Duke even has a schedule that means I barely seem him before bedtime... but I at least get to see him. I hope you get to see and spend some quality time with Erik soon. :)

    1. Hi EsMay,
It'll be a couple more weeks before he's home again. I've got some projects at work to keep me busy but it SUCKS not having him here.

  4. My friend swears by 18/6 ! He also has started keto, which he isn't AS good at but the 18/6 he finds quite easy. In fact he doesn't generally use up his 6 hours. Good for you!

    1. So far so good. Of course, it helps when you're at a kids apartment where there is little to no food. ;0 Back at work next week, we'll see if I can keep it up.

    1. Thank you Roz. Two months seems like a long time to be recovering but then again, when you think about what the body has to go through to heal... or to lose weight for that matter, 60 days is nothing!

  7. Amy both you and Eric are doing so well. wow 18/6 very impressive. I was doing 16/8 and found that hard. Wonderful you can now get your steps in and your knee is healing. Yay for no more pain meds. Take care and enjoy your time with your daughter.

    1. I'm hoping I can stick with it once I'm back to work. I guess this is where we learn how much of a stress eater I really am. :)

  8. I'm so glad your knee is healing! Being able to get around again - particularly up to 5,000/day - is awesome. I'm glad you aren't needing the pain pills anymore either. Lots of good things happening for you...that's so terrific.

    1. Yes Olivia. Two months dragged like an eternity but I seem to be moving forward again. Speaking of moving - how goes it?

  9. Awesome. Glad to hear about the knee. Also great news about not needing pain meds. But if you feel you do need one, please don't stop yourself from taking it as it probably helps with reducing inflammation - not just killing the pain. ESPECIALLY now that you're moving around on it a bit more. It might aggravate the site - so listen to your body. That's the most important thing. Weight loss - FANTASTIC.

    1. I think the weight loss may have something to do with the way I'm eating but also because I'm not taking all of those pills. We'll see. I have had a week of napping when necessary. The job might kill that.

  10. WOW Amy!:) Sounds like you are doing super- especially with the knee recovery. You GO GIRL!!!

I'm glad that you are having a visit with your daughter while Eric is away. It's also nice that you have friends and family for support. Not the same, but must be helpful. Hope that the time goes quickly by!

I've never hear of the 18/6 way of eating before. Sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Many hugs,

    ❤️Katie xoxo

    1. Thank you Katie. I really am surprised how easy it is for me to eat in a window of time - way easier than counting or trying to eat every two hours. Might just be the way my life is rolling along right now. I'll keep it up until it quits working and then I'll try something new.

  11. I am so glad you are back to life. You sound so happy. Way to go on the exercise and healthy eating.

Have been visiting my sister, and I have used that as an excuse to eat sweets. Always my downfall.
