Tummy Ache on the First Fit for Friday

It's 2am and no surprise, I'm up with a tummy ache.  It's the First Fit for Friday but Binge Thursday took on too much sugar, too much food, and too much caffeine. Time for too much tummy ache.

But - it's  (Barely) Friday and I have updated my goals and am ready to begin!

I'm in my PJ's but my Fitbit is on and I've already got 63 steps today. (One trip to the restroom and one trip to the pantry for a Tums.)  I'm going for the full 10,000 by noon.  Yesterday it was a food binge.  Today? Step binge!

Updated Goals:

  • Lose 11-16 pounds this year
  • Write a chapter a week
  • 50,000 steps a week
  • Go to the gym three times a week
  • Clean out a drawer/corner/closet per week (Great idea, Lindy)
  • STOP bingeing

Thank you again for starting this Fondles and good luck to everyone! You can do it. Get out there and meet your goals. I believe in you!

  1. Oh Amy, I'm sorry you're suffering so much from your Binge Thursday. Hope your tummy feels better soon. Sip on a cup of hot water, always helps me.
Wonderful goals, 50,000 steps a week, wow that's a lot, very impressed. Glad I helped in your decluttering idea. Now lets get going, no more bingeing.
    Good luck!

    1. Did you wave your magic wand and sprinkle some sort of fairy dust when you said, "Bingeing be gone!"? Just curious. ;)

  5. Okay I posted this already at Fondles Place, but I will here too..
Several years ago I wanted to lose weight- and did quite easily with a low OBVIOUS carb diet. Basically I didn't eat anything white ( bread, rice, potatoes, crackers, chips, etc.). I am not a big person to begin with, but when I cut out carbs I notice my stomach going flat withing a couple of days. The best thing about choosing to eat like this is you can actually live like this forever.
Once a week, I would have a cheat day- pizza or whatnot to kick start my metabolism again ( but not until I had not cheated for a couple of weeks). Apparently if you lower your caloric intake your can lower some chemical that starts with an L, ( I can't recall the name) and every 7 days or so you need to reactivate it ( which is why some people plateau at a certain weight loss). So you have a cheat day, and the next day your body starts burning like crazy again.
The other thing I did was started to lift weights, and do resistance exercises. I HATE exercising, btw! I love to walk, or do physical things outside, but exercise? NO WAY. I read The Fat Burning Furnace. In a (probably misquoted) nutshell, lifting weights 'damages' the muscles, lift as heavy as you can for shorter periods, and then for 72 hours your body burns calories healing them...Or some darn thing. It worked! All it took was 15 minutes a day, working various parts of my body.

I am not a person who can do things 3 times a week. I NEED to do it every day or I just won't. Though I usually took weekends off as far as weights went.

    Anyway good luck all!

    1. Great tips, Willie. I think I'm probably more a "should do it everyday" kind of gal too. I can comprehend the no carb thing but I think of healthy eating as a tuna sandwich so where does the tuna go without bread? Is a bagel better? Weights. I'm going to work with a trainer two days and week and some friends the third day. A cheat day? Not sure if I cheat I'll be able to stop. Binge be gone!!

    2. Well, initially when I was first trying to lose weight, I would put the tuna on lettuce ribs and make that my 'bread'. As time went on I would bake wonton wrappers (over the edge of the grates in the oven) to make little taco shells. Pitas also made great pizza crusts. As for the cheat day? Have a sandwich with bread...LOL. If you love sugar, you can try what I did. I would by popcicles, jello or even hard candy and have ONE....make it last. Those were for every day not cheat days- also there are sweet greek yogurts out there to have for snacks. Let's face it, you have to make it doable for it to work.

    3. Let's do this. You come over here for the next three months. You can enjoy the green grass and I can learn how to make a wonton wrapper!

  7. I know what you mean by binges, Amy. Hate when I do that. If I let my diet coach help me, they occur less frequently. I love your chapter a week goal and am thinking of stealing that idea.

    1. You write so well, Ella. I hope you do steal that idea and share your stories. You've always got the right mix of intellect, humor, and "moral of the story" in your writing.

  9. I like the idea of putting what you want to lose as a yearly goal.

And maybe the reminder of that tummyache will help with the not bingeing goal! I was gonna suggest Pepto or Maalox, butI see you went for the Tums. Hope you're feeling better!

    1. Thank you Lea. I did the weight loss for the year so I don't freak out and give up if I fluctuate, which I always do. I think I am the queen of water weight. I balloon for 7-10 days of the month and then am even stevens the rest of the time.
